Home Description:

Square footage and age of home figures come from Gregg County Appraisal District information; buyer is encouraged to confirm square footage for themselves.

Main house:
The GCAD records show the house to be 3222 sf, but with enclosed porches and finished-out attic, the square footage may be larger. Buyer should confirm size for themselves.
4/3/3 house was built in 1933 (or 1936), and was updated and enlarged in 1984.
House is mostly pier-and-beam with some concrete floor area.
The house has been preserved in its original 1930s style, a step back in time, but includes all modern conveniences such as central heat/cool, and wiring for cable/satellite and internet.
Almost all woodwork, door hardware, hardwood flooring (refinished in 2015), and wooden slat blinds are original. Many light fixtures are also original (such as the matching living room and dining room chandeliers) or replicas of the original.
On the walls that have wallpaper, some of the original paper has been replaced using the old-style paper-on-canvas type. Some walls are pine panel with a wash.

Living room and one bedroom are step-down from the rest of the house.
The wood-burning fireplace has a metal insert; the wood mantel is original.
The roomy formal dining room is a "museum piece" with original wallpaper, paint, hardwood floors and chandelier.
A bay window breakfast nook overlooks the iron-ore stone patio and back yard.
The kitchen has plenty of counter and cabinet space. The glass-front cabinets and the ceiling fan with Art Deco light fixture are original to the kitchen. Has double ceramic sink, dishwasher, disposal, electric cooktop, double ovens and room for a double-wide refrigerator.
There is a laundry shoot into the basement where the laundry was once done, and a built-in ironing board by the kitchen door. (Washer connection is now in a closet near the kitchen on the main level).
Bathroom fixtures are original or period style. Notice the variegated tile floor and walls, the square-fixture tub and shower, the Art Deco sconces, and aluminum decoration
The original screened-in front porch with its three French doors and parquet floors has been enclosed and included in the main house as a foyer or sitting room.
The second front porch with brick floor was also enclosed and serves as the entrance sunroom.
The house includes lots of storage closets, cabinets, drawers and built-in bookcases throughout.
There are up to 5 rooms that could be bedrooms; spacious with easy access to one of the three bathrooms. One room is currently used as a den.
An original "sleeping porch" with 10 ft ceilings has been enclosed with lots of glass and converted into a bedroom or bonus room
There are two bay windows on the front of the house (in bedrooms), and one bay window on the back (breakfast area).
9 ft ceilings, security system, ceiling fans, some cedar closets and lots of exterior glass add to the benefits of this home.

The house has a 270 sf basement which houses the two electric central heat/cool units, provides extra storage space, and serves as a storm shelter.
The upstairs attic space is truly amazing! The approximately 1000 square feet has its own central heat/cool unit and is wired for cable/satellite TV and internet. It is one room (except for a sleeping nook and half bath on the west end) running almost the full length of the house,. The hardwood floors and pine paneling are original to the house. Look for the cedar closet and the built-in filing cabinet.
The attic is great space for a game room, home theater, office or special private get-away.
The house exterior is brick with decorative wood trim (some wood could use repair), wood-frame sash windows with storm windows, composition shingle roof, downspouts, outdoor lighting.
Enjoy the 12x30 stone back patio, accessible from two doors: kitchen hallway and living room.
